cccfAccording to Lexico, a community, by definition is “the people of a district or country considered collectively, especially in the context of social values and responsibilities; society.”

A community, therefore, encompasses all of the residents within an area. However, it isn’t just a population count that makes a community. The efforts to improve an area by the inhabitants also define a community. It creates a sense of belonging and participation by working towards a greater good for the people of an area. This can come in the form of available resources, organizations, health care, programs, fundraising, and more. It is these efforts that make a community more communal. One example of this is the Carbon County Community Foundation (CCCF).

In this article, we discuss what the Carbon County Community Foundation is, the benefits that the CCCF does for the residents of Carbon County, why R.F. Ohl feels it is important to participate, and what you can do to get involved.

What Is The Carbon County Community Foundation?

The CCCF was founded in 2015 and is a 501c3 nonprofit organization, located in Lehighton, PA. Its function serves to support a variety of charitable funds. Through the CCCF, donors can support a specific charitable fund of choice. Likewise, they can also start a fund of their own to support a cause or charity that focuses on something important to that particular donor.

The CCCF’s mission is to improve the quality of life for all residents of Carbon County. These improvements aim to help current and future residents. Some of the causes the CCCF supports involve arts and music, education, economic development, social and youth services, health, environment, and more. The Carbon County Community Foundation focuses on:

R.F. Ohl’s Involvement With The Carbon County Community Foundation

R.F. Ohl is a local HVAC and oil delivery company located in Carbon County, PA. As a family-owned business, R.F. Ohl recognizes that the residents of the area have endlessly shown their support since its beginnings in 1984. Like many small businesses, R.F. Ohl thrives on delivering high-quality services to locals to keep moving forward. Therefore, one of the principles that R.F. Ohl holds dear is the importance of community building and community participation.

R.F. Ohl supports the CCCF and is part of the board of directors. According to Steve Ohl:

“The thing that I like about the CCCF is that it is designed to last in perpetuity. Carbon County will see benefits of this fund in a hundred years from now.”

As Steve mentions above, the funds that are held by the CCCF will generate interest income. This interest allows the fund to remain in place forever, implying that the CCCF and R.F. Ohl will always be part of something that works towards the greater good for the residents of Carbon County.
